S. Teddy D. was born in Padang, West Sumatera, in 1970. He studied painting at the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI), Yogyakarta.

His group exhibitions include prestigious events such as the Best of Philip Morris Art Awards, Asia-Pacific Triennale of Brisbane, events at the National Gallery of Indonesia, Osaka Triennal in Japan, Centrum van Beeldende Kunst in Dordrecht, Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, and Tokyo Opera City.

His solo exhibitions of drawings, objects, installation arts, and oil paintings include:
House (Cemeti Art House, Yogyakarta, 1998),
Gambarsari (Kedai Kebun, Yogyakarta, 1999),
Essence (Essence Art Gallery, Jakarta, 2000),
Metallic Shit (Cemeti Art House, Yogyakarta, 2002).

Currently, Teddy is participating in the painting workshop of Langgeng Gallery, between 2005 and 2006.
